Profitec Twist SD54 Black - Single Dose

The Profitec TWIST SD54 Black is a dedicated single-dose grinder for home baristas who want to weigh each portion fresh and frequently switch between beans. Instead of filling a hopper with a supply of beans, you only add the amount you actually need to the Coffee Bellow. This keeps the workflow deliberately transparent and makes it easy to switch directly from an espresso to decaf, for example. The black finish visually matches practically any Profitec machine.

Inside, 54 mm steel burrs work with a 235-watt motor at around 1,400 rpm. The grind size can be adjusted continuously, allowing it to be finely tuned for espresso. After grinding, a few pulses on the bellow help release any remaining particles from the grinding chamber and chute. This step is crucial for getting as much as possible of the previously weighed dose back out of the grinder.

The magnetic dosing cup is used for weighing and then transferring the grounds into the portafilter. Profitec also integrates a leveler into the workflow, which allows the coffee grounds to be distributed more evenly before tamping. This means single dosing does not simply end at the chute but is carried through to puck preparation. The compact design also takes up very little counter space.

Compared with the TWIST A54, the SD54 is more flexible when switching between beans but somewhat more manual to operate day to day. For preparing many identical drinks in succession, the A54 with its hopper and saved doses is faster. For changing roasts, fresh individual portions, and deliberate recipe development, the SD54 shows its strengths. Black is the most versatile option and is particularly well suited to a calm, technical-looking espresso setup.
