I'm Marcel, co-founder of BaristaYOU. My journey into the world of coffee began many years ago with training in the specialist coffee trade. Since then, espresso machines, grinders, and personal advice have been part of my professional life. Together with my longtime friend Philipp, I founded BaristaYOU to share this experience in our own way: with carefully selected products, clear recommendations, and time for your questions.

My journey in the specialist coffee trade

My training in the specialist coffee trade laid the foundation early on for what I do today. I learned to get to know products in detail, listen to customers, and develop a sensible recommendation from the many options available. It quickly became clear to me that giving good advice on a machine also means understanding how it will later be used in your home.

On this foundation, I have built up a great deal of knowledge myself over the years. I have tested machines and grinders, changed settings, compared extractions, and studied beans, water, grind size, and extraction in depth. I am interested in why a result succeeds - and how it can be reliably repeated. Experimenting for myself, in particular, has deepened my understanding of the technology and the interaction between the individual components.

This is complemented by daily experience in consulting, sales, and the workshop. Anyone who supports customers before a purchase and knows their questions in everyday use later on learns what really matters: intuitive operation, consistent results, solid workmanship, and maintenance that can be carried out over the long term.

We explain this knowledge clearly and understandably. If you want to know why your espresso tastes too sour, which grinder suits your machine, or whether an upgrade is worthwhile for you, we take a close look together. You can ask questions, compare options, and feel confident in your decision.

My aim is for you to go home with a good decision - and with the knowledge of how to get the most out of your setup.

I have been working with La Marzocco, ECM, Profitec, Rocket, Eureka and Mahlkönig for many years. Over this time, a deep connection has grown with the manufacturers, their products, and the work behind them.

Through many years of collaboration and my own work with the machines and grinders, I have developed a feel for their respective strengths. I know the details that make a difference in everyday use: handling during extraction, the feel when frothing milk, grind-size adjustment, cleaning, and the interaction between machine and grinder.

For you, this experience becomes tangible in our consultation. We discuss whether a machine fits your daily routine, which functions truly help you, and which grinder sensibly complements your preparation method. The limitations of a model are also part of an honest recommendation for me. Enthusiasm for a brand should provide you with guidance and enable you to make a well-founded decision.

I have tested the products we offer myself and selected them deliberately. I look at workmanship, functionality, and how well a product actually proves itself in everyday use. A convincing result in the cup matters just as much as thoughtful operation and the ability to properly maintain the technology.

It is important to us to listen attentively, provide open advice, and take responsibility for our recommendations. This shared attitude was the reason we founded BaristaYOU together.
