The Mazzer Mini Polished Aluminum is the newly developed generation of Mazzer's compact espresso grinder, aimed at ambitious home baristas and smaller professional setups. It combines Mazzer's characteristic solid construction with significantly more modern operation and a compact form factor. The high-gloss aluminum finish pairs particularly well with polished stainless steel machines and classic E61 setups. Despite its name, Mini, it is technically positioned well above basic home grinders.
Inside, 64 mm flat burrs are driven by a 350-watt motor. At 50 hertz, the grinder runs at around 1,400 revolutions per minute and achieves approximately 2 to 2.5 grams per second, depending on the grind size. The grind size is adjusted steplessly, allowing very fine corrections for espresso. The hopper holds around 280 grams, making it suitably sized for a quick hopper workflow at home.
The new Mini features a touch-sensitive control panel for programmable single and double doses, as well as a manual mode. An adjustable portafilter fork allows hands-free grinding, while the portafilter can trigger the grinding process directly. Mazzer also incorporates measures to reduce static buildup at the outlet, guiding the grounds more cleanly into the portafilter. A dose counter helps users track consumption and usage.
Compared with a single-dose grinder such as the Philos, the Mini's strengths are clearly speed and convenience when using one regular house bean. Those who prepare each shot with a different roast will work more flexibly with single dosing. Those who, on the other hand, prepare several espressos consecutively and are looking for a compact, highly robust hopper grinder will get an exceptionally professional workflow here. High-gloss aluminum is the most classic choice for a setup intended to evoke the look of traditional Italian bar equipment.
