You have set a target weight, but does the finished espresso weigh differently than expected? With the Linea Mini R with Brew by Weight, you should first distinguish between the following: Is the weight measurement implausible, does the extraction not stop automatically, or does the final weight fluctuate from one extraction to the next? These three observations lead to different checks.
First record the measurement result accurately
Compare the set value with the weight after normal dripping has stopped. The number when the machine switches off and the finished beverage weight are not necessarily identical. Observe several extractions under conditions that are as similar as possible and record the results. A single outlier is not yet a reliable diagnosis.
For the comparison, you need a consistent coffee dose, the same cup, and an unchanged scale position. Changing the recipe between measurements makes troubleshooting unnecessarily difficult.
Four checks without interfering with the machine
| Observation | What to check first |
|---|---|
| Display jumps when touched | Keep the cup, handle, and scale free from contact with solid parts |
| Weight barely increases even though espresso is flowing | Is the entire cup really standing on the weighing surface? |
| Extraction does not stop automatically | Check the connection status and activated operating mode in the app |
| Final weight fluctuates significantly | Check the consistency of the coffee dose, grind size, and preparation |
Why not change the target weight immediately?
If the cup is resting against something on the side, for example, changing the target value would only compensate for an incorrect measurement result. As soon as the contact is removed, your recipe will be wrong again. Therefore, first resolve the mechanical cause and then check the connection.
For location training and system settings, use the current manufacturer's instructions. Avoid making changes to internal components as long as you are only observing a scale deviation.
The grinder remains part of the diagnosis
A very uneven or suddenly changed espresso flow is a reason to examine the preparation more closely. Check the actual dose used and prepare the coffee bed as evenly as possible. The scale measures the output; it cannot make extractions with different starting conditions identical.
How to document a recurring problem
A short table with the target weight, final weight, extraction time, and coffee dose is valuable. Add the exact scale type, software version, and information about whether you have changed the location. With this information, BaristaYOU can provide much more targeted support.
Is a deviation always a defect?
No. Placement, dripping, connection, and preparation can influence the result. If the behavior persists with the starting conditions properly checked, the setup should be professionally assessed.
