The ECM Exacto is designed for home baristas who want a classic hopper grinder but no longer want to control their dose solely by grinding time. Its integrated grind-by-weight function weighs the coffee while grinding and can stop dispensing once the preset target weight is reached. This largely automates one of the most common manual control steps in the espresso workflow. At the same time, the Exacto remains flexible, as it also offers timed dosing and a manual mode in addition to weight-based dosing.
It features 64 mm steel burrs driven by a 680-watt motor at 1,350 rpm. ECM specifies approximately 18 grams of output in six seconds as a guideline. The grind size can be adjusted continuously and is also displayed in high resolution on the touchscreen. This allows you to make fine mechanical adjustments while also tracking your setting digitally.
The height-adjustable portafilter fork is designed for different portafilter sizes and stabilizes the portafilter while weighing. For saved portafilters, grinding can start automatically when the portafilter is inserted, making the workflow even more direct. Barista lights illuminate the work area, and the coffee chute can be removed without tools for cleaning. The newly mounted motor unit is also designed to operate more quietly and with less vibration.
Compared with the ECM S-Automatik 64, the Exacto is the more modern and convenient solution when reproducible weight-based dosing is a priority. Compared with a single-dose grinder, it remains clearly focused on fast everyday use with beans in the hopper. The approximately 500-gram hopper provides enough capacity for several shots without requiring constant refilling. This makes the Exacto particularly well suited to high-end ECM dual boilers and heat exchanger machines that call for an equally precise grinding workflow.
