La Marzocco FAQ: Linea Micra, Mini R, Brew by Weight & Bundles
La Marzocco FAQ: Linea Micra, Mini R, Brew by Weight & bundles
The key answers to choosing your La Marzocco portafilter machine, a suitable espresso grinder, and weight-controlled espresso preparation.
Linea Micra or Linea Mini R - which is the better fit?
The Linea Micra is especially suited to a compact, high-quality home barista setup. The Linea Mini R offers a larger workspace and additional options for more demanding workflows. Which machine is a better fit depends on your space, drink volume, budget, and preferred user experience. We recommend comparing not only the technical specifications, but also how you’ll use it every day.
What does Brew by Weight mean at La Marzocco?
Brew by Weight refers to preparing a drink to a desired weight. With a compatible Connected Scale, the shot can stop automatically when it reaches the target weight. This can improve consistency, but it does not replace the right amount of coffee beans, a suitable grind size, and a well-matched espresso recipe.
Do I always need a specific scale for Brew by Weight?
A compatible Connected Scale is required for the intended connected features. A regular espresso scale can show you the shot weight, but it does not automatically control the machine. Check current compatibility for your machine and software version.
Which grinder works with the Linea Mini R?
For a quick daily workflow with one regular coffee, a grind-on-demand grinder is a good choice. If you often switch between coffees, a single-dose grinder may make more sense. A grind-by-weight grinder like the Mahlkönig E64 WS is designed for those who want to control their coffee dose by weight as they grind.
Are there La Marzocco bundles with a grinder and scale?
Yes. At BaristaYOU, you’ll find combinations with compatible espresso grinders and, in some cases, a Connected Scale. The exact contents depend on the bundle. Always check the specific product description rather than assuming every combination includes the same equipment.
What’s the difference between a standard Linea Mini R and a Custom Edition?
A standard machine comes in the colors and configurations offered by the manufacturer. Custom Editions may include additional modifications, finishes, or wooden components. Before placing your order, check whether the item is in stock or made to order; delivery times and the right of withdrawal may differ.
Can I order a color that isn’t immediately available?
You can see the specific availability on each product page. Some products can be ordered with a longer delivery time, while other bundles can only be purchased once all the required components are available. If you have questions about a color or combination, we’ll be happy to advise you personally.
