The Hario V60 Immersion Dripper Switch Server Set 02 combines two brewing methods in one system. The familiar V60 geometry is combined with a mechanical closure, allowing water to remain in the dripper initially. Only when you operate the switch does the stainless steel ball open the outlet and the coffee flow into the server. This lets you try immersion, classic pour-over, or combinations of both methods.
With pure immersion, the coffee and water remain together completely for a defined period, making the brewing process particularly easy to reproduce. For example, Hario describes a method in which the outlet initially remains closed and is opened after the desired contact time. Because the flow only starts at the press of a button, you do not have to pour continuously during the immersion phase. This often makes the Switch more beginner-friendly than an open V60.
Size 02 is designed for practical small to medium quantities, and the included server receives the finished coffee directly. You can later experiment with grind size, immersion time, and additional pour-over phases without changing the dripper. This flexibility is exactly what makes the Switch especially interesting for users who enjoy comparing recipes. Suitable V60 paper still provides the clear, clean cup profile of a paper filter.
The Switch is right for you if a regular V60 sometimes requires too much active pouring, but you still do not want to give up control. Compared with a French press, it produces a cleaner, paper-filtered cup; compared with a classic V60, the immersion phase is easier to control. The server makes the set ready to use immediately and is also suitable for swirling the coffee before serving. This makes the Switch one of the most versatile manual filter brewers in the Hario range.
