The JoeFrex Digital Brewing Scale is a straightforward filter coffee scale for anyone who wants to control two crucial variables at once while brewing: weight and time. It measures in 0.1-gram increments, making it suitable for typical pour-over, French press, and immersion recipes. Instead of pouring by eye, you can precisely track the coffee-to-water ratio and individual pouring phases. Especially when getting started with reproducible filter recipes, this is a significant improvement over a standard kitchen scale without a timer.

The maximum capacity of 5 kg provides an unusually large reserve for a compact brew scale. This means even larger servers, French presses, or drippers with the full amount of water can be used without any problems. The integrated timer runs up to 9 minutes and 59 seconds and displays the brewing time directly alongside the weight. This means you do not need an additional smartphone or a separate stopwatch on the counter when brewing with a manual filter.

The backlit LCD remains easy to read even in changing lighting conditions. Measuring approximately 13 × 20 × 3 cm, the platform provides enough space for standard filter setups while remaining flat enough to store in a drawer. The operation is deliberately classic and does without app requirements or complex automatic programs. This makes the scale particularly appealing if you want to control your brewing steps yourself and simply need reliable measurements.

Power is supplied by two AAA batteries, which are already included. Compared with high-end smart scales, it lacks Bluetooth, flow-rate analysis, and automatic brewing modes, but the JoeFrex remains much more accessible in terms of both price and operation. For espresso, a smaller drip-tray scale is usually more practical; for filter coffee, the larger platform is its strength. It is therefore especially well suited to V60, AeroPress, French press, and other manual brewing methods.
