Profitec Pro 400

The Profitec PRO 400 is a compact heat-exchanger machine for home baristas who want to combine the classic manual portafilter workflow with somewhat more modern temperature control. It is particularly well suited if cappuccino or flat white is regularly on the menu alongside espresso.

The multifunction switch lets you select three PID-controlled boiler temperatures and activate or deactivate pre-infusion and ECO mode. The dual pressure gauge displays boiler and pump pressure, while the expansion valve allows you to adjust the brew pressure.

The 1.6-liter stainless steel boiler supplies steam and brew water for the heat-exchanger workflow. The machine is deliberately less complex than a dual boiler: if you want separate boiler temperatures for coffee and steam or frequently switch between very different roasts, you should also include the MOVE, RIDE, or DRIVE in your comparison.

The PRO 400 is right for you if you are looking for a compact heat-exchanger machine with classic operation, good steam performance, and manageable electronics. The colored valve inserts included with the machine also allow for small visual changes.
