ECM S-Automatik 64 Espresso Grinder

The ECM S-Automatik 64 is a classic grind-on-demand grinder for home baristas who use a fixed espresso bean in the hopper and want to grind quickly directly into the portafilter. It deliberately relies on programmed timed dosing instead of an integrated scale or single-dose workflow. This keeps operation straightforward and makes it particularly suitable for preparing several drinks in a row. Visually, the polished ECM design pairs perfectly with high-quality E61 and dual-boiler machines.

The 64 mm steel burrs are driven by a 450-watt motor and offer significantly more reserve than smaller 54 mm home grinders. The grind size can be adjusted steplessly, allowing fine corrections during dialing in. The bean hopper holds approximately 500 grams and can optionally be made even larger. This makes the S-Automatik 64 interesting for households with higher consumption as well.

Grinding times for one or two portions can be programmed to the tenth of a second. The grinder also displays the dispensed amounts, making it easier to monitor daily consumption. Fins on the housing support heat dissipation from the motor, which is useful when grinding several times in succession. The S-Automatik 64 therefore remains clearly focused on a stable, repeatable hopper workflow.

Compared with the ECM Exacto, it doses by time rather than automatically by weight. After changing the grind size or using new beans, you should therefore briefly check the output with a scale and adjust the time if necessary. In return, you get a robust 64 mm grinder without additional GBW complexity. It is particularly well suited to you if performance and simple operation matter more than frequent bean changes or fully automatic weight-based dosing.
