Many espresso problems are first attributed to the machine, even though the grinder is the actual cause. In our grinder consultation in Neumarkt-Sankt Veit, we therefore first clarify how you prepare coffee: one regular bean or frequent changes, espresso or also filter, maximum convenience or deliberate single dosing.
Single Dose, Hopper or Grind by Weight?
Single Dose is suitable for frequent bean changes. A classic hopper is quick and uncomplicated. Grind by Weight combines hopper convenience with weight-based dosing. No option is universally the best.
Considering the Machine
A grinder does not have to be the same brand as the machine. What matters is that the grinding range, adjustment and workflow are a good fit. A La Marzocco Pico, for example, makes sense for a convenient La-Marzocco hopper workflow, while other setups benefit from Single Dose or GBW.
Upgrade Instead of Changing the Machine
If your current espresso machine operates with stable temperature control and provides sufficient steam, a better grinder may be the more sensible next step. A more finely adjustable grind size and better reproducibility influence every shot.

FAQ
Do I need to bring my machine to the appointment?
Normally not. The model, current grinder, beans and typical drinks are enough for an initial assessment.
Can I look for a grinder for espresso and filter coffee?
Yes. In that case, we pay particular attention to the adjustment range and ease of switching.
Do you also advise on Mahlkönig, Eureka, ECM, Profitec and Varia?
Yes, depending on the current range, we compare brands across the board.
